Parson & Associates–with Burns & McDonnell, Black & Veatch and TranSystems–sponsored RUNforKC: Council Candidate Preparation hosted by Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo and GOforKC, on Saturday, April 26 at Burns & McDonnell.  Parson & Associates staff led the planning of the all-day event which focused on educating candidates on current City projects, not only to assist them in their campaigns,  but also to be of value on their first days as City Councilmembers.

Potential 2015 Kansas City Council candidates took advantage of the  informational sessions presented by City staff who are experts on six topics:  Transportation and Infrastructure, Ethics, Finance & Budget, Sustainability, Economic Development and the City’s Overflow Control Plan.

Councilwoman Melba Curls  took part in the Welcoming session.  The day ended with a question and answer panel  featuring  Mayor Sly James, Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo, Councilman Ed Ford, and Councilman John Sharp.  The panel was moderated by former City Councilwoman Joanne Collins. The forum afforded prospective elected officials an opportunity to hear first-hand perspectives of current officials on what the job entails.
