With the holiday season approaching, let us not forget a very important but sometimes overlooked holiday—Veterans Day, November 11—a day to honor our American brothers and sisters who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Veterans Day is an especially significant day for Parson & Associates as our own Jason Parson served our country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force Reserves and in the war in Iraq before he was disabled and honorably discharged. In September, Parson & Associates became a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned business. Jason knows that he has been extremely blessed and beginning this year, he has chosen to bless others who have served our country.
On the evening of Saturday, November 8, Parson & Associates will host veterans and their family for dinner and entertainment at Gregg/Klice Community Center for our inaugural “Serving Those Who Serve Our Country” dinner through Project MRE, which Jason is establishing. Outside agencies will also be invited to showcase services from which veterans may benefit. Our hope is that the dinner event and Project MRE will grow with each year to include more and more U.S. Veterans.

Veterans Day is celebrated every year on November 11. Originally called Armistice Day, it was a day set aside to honor the unknown soldiers who perished in World War I, a war that ended in the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. It was renamed Veterans Day by President Eisenhower in 1954 to honor all American veterans. A ceremonial wreath is placed every November 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery in Virginia.
