Kansas City Streetcar: Downtown Starter Line Construction
Kansas City Streetcar: Downtown Starter Line Construction
Parson + Associates (P+A) managed the communication plan, outreach, and public relations program for construction of Kansas City’s two-mile streetcar starter line through the heart of downtown. The engagement effort led by the P+A team set the standard for high-profile construction projects throughout the Kansas City region.
Construction on the starter line began in December of 2013, and reached a level of substantial completion in December 2015. P+A team members led all communication-related tasks for the duration of the KC Streetcar project. Our team handled daily engagement with stakeholders, contractors, City and community groups to identify concerns and mitigate issues as they arose, in addition to services such as publishing weekly construction updates, creating educational materials and more.
In May 2016, KC celebrated the grand opening of the KC Streetcar and held the first inaugural ride.
The P+A team is thrilled to continue our work on this transformative project as we lead the public engagement Main Street Extension, which will expand the line from Union Station to the University of Missouri-Kansas City!
